ANOTHER PROJECT FROM MY STASH! I made this cape for a little newborn named Polly. I thought she could use a sassy cape to wear in the winter to keep her little body warm. I wish I could have used a real baby to model it, but my purple teddy bear worked out fine!
Size: 0-3[3-6] months Gauge: 5 sts and 9 rows= 2 in with MC
Materials: Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride Bulky (85% wool, 15% mohair) 125 yd/skein; color: Lotus Pink; 1 skein. (Jiffy by Lion Brand also works.) Fun Fur by Lion Brand (100% Polyester) 64yd/50g skein; color: Violet; 1 skein.
Button, needle and thread Tapestry Needle 1 set US 11/8mm straight needles
With both yarns held together, CO 60[66] sts Work 4 rows in garter st. Break Fun Fur. Then working just with Lamb’s Pride, keep 3 sts on either side garter st, work even in st st until piece measures 4 in ending with a RS row.
Dec row (WS): K3, P1, P2tog, *P2, P2tog,* rep until 4 sts rem. P1, K3. Buttonhole row (RS): K1, YO, K2tog. K rem sts. Dec row (WS): K3, P1, P2tog, *P2, P2tog,* rep until 4 sts rem. P1, K3.
Again working with both yarns held together, work 3 rows in garter st. BO all sts. Sew on button. Weave in ends.
